Meet Ree George

 
I am a PREKURE Certified Health Coach and Mental Health Coach specialising in Mental Fitness and Addictive Behaviours. My coaching focuses on those who are juggling busy lives, relationships, children, fitness, family and careers. Through my coaching services, my goal is to help others implement and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviours in order to thrive during challenging times.

What are Health & Mental Health Coaching?

“A Health Coach provides clarity, they provide inspiration, but most importantly, they walk alongside someone to help with behaviour change – long-term, sustainable behaviour change”.

Health coaching is a Science and an Art form, not just a process. Fundamentally, Health coaching encompasses the sciences of positive psychology, behaviour change, nutrition, exercise and lifestyle medicine with the dynamic art of relationships, teamwork and community, as well as Coaching techniques.

More specifically, Mental Health Coaching is an innovative new way of providing health coaching services to those with mild to moderate mental health challenges (anxiety, depression, low mood, disordered eating, addictions etc). Mental Health Coaching uses all of the above coaching & lifestyle medicine techniques, in addition to ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) – using latest scientific research & evidence based practice to  bridge the treatment gap and provide access to services early on. Prevention is also cure in the field of mental health.

I love Ree's pilates classes. Ree is an excellent teacher, great at explaining the mechanics of how your body works. When I leave Ree's classes I feel like not only has my body had a great work out, but that my brain has been expanded and I have some new tips on how to manage this frantic life that we lead. Just as I helped people become physically ‘fitter’ during my 20+ years as a Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor, it is also possible to help someone become mentally fitter when they are ready. And just like you can’t go to the gym once and miraculously get a six-pack, you can’t become mentally fitter without doing the work.

Those of you who know me will know that I have a love affair with climbing mountains. I can’t actually remember when it began, but it has been gathering momentum over the past few years since my son & I set up a Facebook group called ‘Aiming High’.

Years ago I participated in a workshop with a group of fabulous women, all of whom had struggled with some challenges around food, or disordered eating during their lifetime. We were all asked ‘Do you consider your life is more like a Maze, or a Labyrinth?’.
